Committed to Excellence

On July 28, 2006, the Longview Police Department held its dedication ceremonies for the new training facility. The Roy Stone Police Training Center named after longtime Police Chief Roy Stone was officially opened following a short ceremony honoring Chief Stone who served 33 years with the Longview Police Department and was Chief from July 1, 1952 until his retirement on December 31, 1980. The facility is part of a $687,400 expansion and remodeling project with the funds coming from a 1998 bond approved by voters. The new exercise/weight room is equipped with state of the art equipment that was purchased using funds seized from drug dealers. The center also houses a new training classroom as well as offices for the Training/Recruiting Section and the Public Information Officer.
