Lt. Ron Buckner
Lieutenant Ron Buckner, a Houston native, began his career with the Longview Police Department in 1982 after graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry. During his career,Lieutenant Buckner has been assigned to several different units, including Patrol, Criminal Invesitgations as a member of the Repeat Offender Project and the Street Crimes Unit, and an agent assigned to the Vice/Intelligence/Narcotics Unit and the County Organized Drug Enforcement (CODE) Unit. For 11 years, Lieutenant Buckner was assigned as the Department's first narcotic K9 handler. Lieutenant Buckner was promoted to Sergeant in 2001 and has served as a patrol supervisor on the midnight and day shifts and in 2004 became the supervisor of the School Resource Unit. In November 2005, he was promoted to Lieutenant and currently serves as Watch Commander of the 2nd Watch as well as District Commander for District "B".
In addition,Lieutenant Buckner is a member of the Action Committee to Reduce Underage Drinking and also serves as the Vice-President of the Longview Teen Court and is a member of the Texas Education Agency's Improvement Planning for Discipline Committee.
Lieutenant Buckner received a Police Commendation in 1997 for significant narcotics seizures and was named Supervisor of the Year in 2005.
