In 2001, the Texas legislature, in an attempt to address the issue
of racial profiling in policing, passed the Texas Racial Profiling Law
(S.B. 1074). Since that time, the Longview Police Department has collected
citation-based contact data for the purpose of identifying and addressing
(if necessary) concerns regarding racial profiling practices among police
officers. Each year, the Police Chief presents to the city council a
report detailing the results of an analysis of the citizen contact data
for the previous year. Below are links to the Citizen Contact Data for
the last five years.
Please note that the data files are in SPSS format and must be downloaded and opened with SPSS to be read. You will need to download the files prior to opening them on your computer. The Adobe® Acrobat® Reader™ is required to view and print the Citizen Contact Data Report. If you do not have this program installed on your computer, you can download it for free by clicking the logo below. |
