Officer Rebekah Martinez is from New York and graduated from LeTourneau University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History/Political Science. Officer Martinez is currently working on her Masters Degree from the University of Texas at Tyler. Officer Martinez serves the community outside the Police Department as a member of the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity and serves on their Family Selection Committee. Officer Martinez came to work for the Longview Police Department in 2002 and was then called to active duty with her Army Reserve unit spending a year at Ft. Polk, LA. Officer Martinez was selected as the department's Rookie of the Year in 2005 and currently is a member of the Bike Unit in addition to her duties as a Police Area Representative. She has also served as a Field Training Officer. Officer Martinez is the Department's liaison with the community and her duties include the implementation of neighborhood improvement projects specific to Beat 50, including Neighborhood Crime Watch and Citizen on Patrol programs. She performs city safety park patrols as well as neighborhood revitalization support.
