Officer Clay Whittenberg joined the Longview Police Department in 1988 and has served in many capacities in his 19 years of service with the Department. Officer Whittenberg is a graduate of Longview High School and Kilgore College. He has served as a Field Training Officer and D.A.R.E. Instructor while assigned to the Patrol Division and most recently has served as a detective in the Crimes Against Property Section of the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Officer Whittenberg has previously served as a Police Area Representative from 1998 to 2002 and in January 2007 was once again appointed as a Police Area Representative for Beat 20 in District "A" which encompasses much of North Central Longview.

Officer Whittenberg's duties include neighborhood improvement projects specific to Beat 20 as well as Neighborhood Crime Watch and citizen involvement programs.

Officer Whittenberg is certified as a Crime Prevention Specialist by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education and holds a TCLEOSE Master Peace Officer Certificate.
