Officer Michael Reinhart joined the Longview Police Department in April of 1981. While serving in the capacity as a patrol officer, Michael has been recognized as Officer of the Year in 1985 and 2003. He also received the Chief's Award in 1986.

Michael has served the Department as a Field Training Officer and served as a member of the Employee Advisory Board. He has also been a Breath Test Operator since 1995.

Michael has an Associate Degree from Kilgore College and a Master Peace Officer Certificate issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. Michael also worked as a bus driver for the Pine Tree Independant School District from 1989 until 2002 while working the Evening Shift for the Department. In his capacity as a bus driver, he was able to provide transportation for children from different parts of the city to several MudBugs games in Shreveport with the full cooperation of the PTISD.

Michael is currently assigned as the District "A" Police Area Representative and he serves as a liaison between the department and the citizens of his district. His duties include such tasks as implementing crime watch programs with businesses as well as in the residential areas. While the majority of his day is involved with working with community related actions, he still maintains close ties with the patrolman in the field
